Here is the quote from Seed Thought for Daily Planting - "Quote of the Day" and my commentary

“During communion with the far-off worlds one must accept the degree of Fire. The fire of purification explains all the ancient mysteries. When Christ spoke of the spirit needing regeneration, He had in mind the fiery purification. When the outline of the law of The Wheel of Life was given by the Lord Buddha, the fiery purification was affirmed. Thus, the consuming of old encumbrances is affirmed by the fiery purification. The new ascent is conditioned by the purification through Fire. Therefore, the purification of spirit lies at the basis of transmutation. The highest Agni Yogi is not an instrument nor a passive recipient but a co-worker and creator. Therefore, when the fires of Cosmos arestrained the manifestation of fiery purification is inevitable. Thus shall we establish attunement with the fiery purification.” (Infinity II, 126)

Commentary:

For the practitioner of Agni Yoga, this passage is a reminder that the path of spiritual evolution is an active, transmutative process driven by spiritual fire. To commune with the “far-off worlds,” which represent higher states of consciousness and the dwelling places of higher entities—a practitioner cannot simply project their current state of being. They must accept a certain degree of Fire, meaning their psychic energy must be elevated, refined, and vibrating at a frequency capable of withstanding and integrating with those higher realms. The Teaching draws a direct line between Agni Yoga and the core truths of the world’s great Avatars. When Christ spoke of being “born again” or baptized by fire, He was describing the literal, energetic transmutation of the lower nature into the higher. Similarly, when the Buddha offered the path to escape the endless cycles of the Wheel of Life, it was fundamentally a process of fiery purification to burn away lower attachments. Agni Yoga presents itself not as a break from these traditions, but as the modern application of their deepest inner mysteries.

This fiery purification is essential for the “consuming of old encumbrances,” which include our accumulated karma, crystallized thought-forms, and outdated egoic attachments. A practitioner cannot ascend while weighed down by the past; the fire of their own spirit must burn away what no longer serves their evolutionary path to change the base metal of their lower nature into the “gold” of the spirit. Perhaps the most crucial instruction for today’s practitioner is that the Agni Yogi is not an empty instrument or a passive vessel for Divine Will, but a conscious co-worker and creator with the Hierarchy.

Finally, the passage notes that the “fires of Cosmos are strained,” indicating that we are living in an era of intense cosmic pressure and planetary transition. Because the macrocosm is undergoing fiery purification, humanity will inevitably experience it as well. When this pressure rises, we must not resist it, but instead consciously align our spiritual efforts with this cosmic fire, using the friction of daily life to fuel our own regeneration.
